Automated Sniper Field Fire Range
Fort Stewart, Georgia

Automated Sniper Field Fire Range

Street Smarts is providing site design for the expansion of an existing sniper range. This will include new buildings and expansion of the existing range. New berms will be designed to protect nearby environmentally sensitive areas from off-target rounds. This project will replace the existing sniper range at Fort Stewart, GA with the current standard Automated Sniper Field Fire Range. The 1000-meter range and the attendant buildings will be constructed at the current sniper range. In coordination with the range experts from Fort Stewart, the stationary and mobile infantry targets will be located on the range to provide the highest level of training for U.S. Army snipers.

Street Smarts is providing site planning, civil/site engineering, landscape architecture, topographic surveying, and subsurface utility engineering for the expansion of the Fort Stewart Winn Army Community Hospital (WACH). The medical clinic addition is located within the existing WACH site. The project will involve the demolition of existing structures, driveways, parking facilities, and utilities in order to prepare the site for the medical clinic addition. Grading design will be performed in order to raise the site for the proposed clinic addition and new parking area. An existing parking area will also be expanded to provide additional parking. Civil utilities to be designed include storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and a fire main. Innovative low impact development (LID) stormwater management facilities, including infiltration basins, an interlocking permeable concrete paver pavement system, and a bioretention area, will be designed to minimize impacts on aquatic resources. Landscaping and erosion control will also be addressed as part of the project.
